The History of Slots

The History of Slots
Those who play casino games had played slot machines at one point in their gambling lives. Some are still even trying their luck at slot machines while some may have given up and resorted to table games where winning is not based on luck alone. But did you know that the slot machine had undergone series of changes before reaching its present state and the internet?
The history of slot machines started in the late 19th century when a machine was designed with five drums displaying poker hands. However, due to the very large number of possible combinations in this machine, automatic payout for every combination is almost impossible to achieve. The prizes instead are free beers, cigars, or drinks, depending on the owner.
Charles Fey then invented a new machine based on the first machine. It had 3 reels instead of 5 drums and 5 symbols instead of 10 cards. He was then able to devise automatic payouts for every combination since the number of possible combinations is significantly reduced. One of the 5 symbols is the Liberty Bell - which gave the machine its name; others are horseshoes, diamonds, spades, and hearts.
Imitators then devised their own machines similar to the Liberty Bell but with different symbols and different prizes. This is when slot machines featuring fruits - including cherry and melon that we still see today - were devised and introduced. The Bell Fruit Gum Company introduced the first line of slot machines which did not have money as payouts but gum. It was most probably an effort to sell their gum.
The bar signs that slots of today feature came from the logo of the Bell Fruit Gum Company.
It was in the 60's that electronic machines were introduced. Electronic slots are much harder to cheat and are more secure than mechanical ones. More and more casinos later adapted electronic ones.
Today, there are many varieties of slots being offered at casinos worldwide. Slot machines games are also offered in online casino if one cannot be bothered going to a casino. Online casinos also work as real casinos since the deposit and payout is real money.
The catch with online casinos is the casino bonus which is being offered upon sign up and first deposit. Some sign up bonuses are higher than others so one must make sure to find the best bonus which suits him. After signing up with any online casino, I assume people will be trying their luck first on the different varieties of slot machines.

Getting the Most Out of Your Gambling Experience

Getting the Most Out of Your Gambling Experience
Gambling can be very exciting, whether you are playing in a casino or online, but it can also be very disheartening at times. This mostly happens when players find themselves playing a game that they don't understand, or playing outside of their comfort zones. When a player doesn't quite comprehend the rules or strategies of the game, they lack the ability to make optimal moves based on the information that they have. This can lead to making moves or wagers that will almost always result in a loss. Frustration will most likely follow, and the fun factor is gone. There are, however, a few simple guidelines that, if followed, will help to put the fun back in the game again.
First of all, you should know the difference between games of chance and games of skill. In a game of chance each roll of the dice or spin of the wheel is completely independent of any other roll or spin. You can have no influence on the outcome, you can only bet on what you predict the outcome to be. In a game of skill, there is a certain amount of knowledge that you will need in order to make the best moves that will give you the best chance to win. When you play you should understand which games require some knowledge or skill before you start to play.
One other guideline that will help you in your gambling experience is to study strategies for improving your chances of winning at any game that you play. When you learn the basic knowledge on how to play any particular game, you will make the "smart" moves that will reduce the chances for the house winning, thus increasing your chances. One example of this is playing blackjack. If you understand the basic strategies, you will be better able to assess the situation based on the cards showing for yourself and the dealer. The decisions that you make will be based on all of the factors of the game, like what cards are showing or what the casino house rules are on when the dealer is required to take a card or when they are forbidden to take one. While you won't always win if you play using this basic strategy, your probability will be much higher than if you just played based on a "hunch". One note, even though game of chance (like roulette) don't require a lot of knowledge or skill to play, there are still some strategies that you need to be aware of while you are playing.
Another important guideline is to set a reasonable gambling budget and then stick to it. It is always a good idea to decide exactly how much money you are willing to use (or lose) before you start playing. It will be tempting to get some more cash out of the ATM, especially if you get caught up in the moment and let your emotions override your good sense. Just leave that ATM card at home, or somewhere that is not readily accessible, which will give you a bit of "cooling off" time.
One last thing to remember is that gambling is supposed to be fun. This is recreation, not a means to make some quick money or to recoup some of your stock market loses. Approach the game like you would when trying to decide what movie to go to, or where to go for dinner. Do a little bit of research, find out what you are in the mood for and how much you can spend, then go and have some fun. Good luck to you!
